Day 22, John Day, OR to Boise, ID
It was a long, hot, smokey ride this day; lots of forest fires. We'd been planning to ride to Challice, ID to spend the night, but 50 miles before Challice we found that State Road 21 was closed because of a huge fire that had been burning for weeks. We had to backtrack a bit and spend the night in Boise.
That's the bad news. The good news is that there was an Applebees right across the street - a cool oasis of good (yes, good!) food and drink.
